Rodney Hagan, CPA

William R. Hagan, better known as “Rodney” is the Senior Managing Partner of the firm. Rodney has accumulated a vast amount of experience in individual, corporate, trust, and also estate returns. Additionally, Mr. Hagan is highly knowledgeable with specialized areas of services such as compilations, review and audit services, tax planning, and strategizing so he can assist clients with all their financial needs. He graduated from the University of West Georgia where he earned his B.S. in Accounting. He has earned a tremendous track record when dealing with the IRS and state taxing agencies. His passion is helping the firm's clients to be successful in their endeavors while also educating them with the information and knowledge, that will enable them to make properly informed decisions. He truly loves and values the CPA and client relationship. Mr. Hagan is Licensed in both the State of Alabama and Georgia. That being one of the reasons he has been so interested in finding a way to reach as many taxpayers as he could, no matter their home state. With research, the advances in technology and the partners willingness to invest in the future, we are fortunate enough to have clients all across the United States.

Rodney lives in Alabama with his wife, Talia, their twin sons, and daughter. His interests include college football and bass fishing. His greatest joy comes in spending time with his home and church families.

Debra Johnson, CPA, EA, PFS, CGMA

Debra has been an EA since 1981 and a CPA since 1999. She is one of a select few in the Metro Atlanta area that is accredited as both an accounting and tax specialist. Her wealth of knowledge and experience, combined with her kindly, warm personality and genuine personal interest, sets her apart.

Debra loves animals and is an avid gardener. She often graces the office with beautiful, fresh-cut flowers straight from her garden!

Theresa Childs-Capes
Office Manager/Administrative Assistant

Theresa has nearly three decades of front office experience and enjoys working with the public. At HJACPAS she guides new clients through the onboarding process by providing forms, setting up secure online portal accounts, scheduling appointments, and processing payments to name just a few of the ways. Theresa offers administrative support to the clients, staff, and both of the CPAs, who are partners of the firm. She is very friendly and always willing to assist in any way that she can.

 

Outside the workplace, some of the things that have been enjoyed most over the years were volunteering with the special needs population of Douglas County and working with children through the Georgia Public School System. What she looks forward to in life is traveling to new places, enjoying the natural wonders of this beautiful world, which for her has included swimming with the Dolphins and hiking to the top of Diamond Head State Monument during one of her adventures.  Though life’s greatest blessing outside of her professional life is being able to spend time with her loving family, that now also includes Amazing Grand Children.

Terrin George
Senior Accountant

Terrin holds an Associates in Business Administration from Gadsden State Community College and a B.S. in Accounting from Jacksonville State University. She has a vast experience in individual and corporate taxes, specializing in compilations, reviews, and audits. She has over ten years of experience in both public and governmental accounting. 

 

She enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, kayaking, and photography.

Stephanie Roberts
Accounting Clerk

Stephanie has extensive experience facilitating clients as well as our staff accountants with simple tasks along with more comprehensive assignments that require research and project management. In addition, Stephanie also assists with bookkeeping and administrative duties as needed. 

She enjoys spending time with her family, travelling and spending time on the water sailing.

Jandi Budde
Senior Accountant

Jandi began working for our firm in June of 2013. She is one of our valued senior accountants. She is tasked with processing payroll and everything that entails preparing financial statements for small businesses. In addition, she performs technical reviews on the majority of tax returns that come through our office.

 

In her spare time, she loves making fun memories with family and friends, going on adventures, dancing, and looking for opportunities to serve. In 2022 she celebrated 3 years of marriage to a very talented songwriter. She also has a Doberman named Rocky that keeps her wondering where he gets all that energy from?! She is excited to see what the future has in store for her!

Kathryn Aldredge
Senior Accountant

Kathryn holds a B.S in Accounting and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of West Georgia. She has plans to obtain her CPA license soon and enjoys the client relationships made through our work. Kathryn assists in managing the Staff accountants, bookkeeping, and Tax Preparation services.

 

In her free time, she enjoys working with her competition horses and spending time with her family.

Henna recently graduated from the University of West Georgia with a Master of Professional Accounting with plans to become a CPA and pursue her passion for forensic accounting.

Henna enjoys learning new languages. She is currently learning Korean and is already fluent in Spanish, Dutch, and Papiamentu.

Emily Roberts
Staff Accountant

Emily recently graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. She enjoys the problem-solving aspects of accounting work, and getting to learn and grow her knowledge.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also loves serving in youth ministry at her church, and trains in Taekwondo as a 4th degree blackbelt.

Katie Collett
Staff Accountant

Katie has a B.S. in Accounting from Jacksonville State University, and has over 20 years of accounting experience in both the public and private sector. She has been happily married to her husband, Andy, for 23 years, and they have 2 daughters and one son. They also have a family cattle farm in Alabama.

 

In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family, small-town farm life, and reading & studying the Bible.

What is a CPA?  

A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is licensed and regulated by the state boards of accountancy. CPAs must complete 150 hours of education including concentration in accounting and pass a rigorous exam given by the State Board of Accountancy. They must also complete a 1 year  internship at a CPA firm. CPAs provide a wide range of financial services and perform many different roles beyond tax preparation and accounting, including financial analysis, corporate finance,  estate planning, and much more.

What is an EA?  

An Enrolled Agent (EA) is a federally-authorized tax practitioner who has technical expertise in the field of taxation and who is empowered by the U.S. Department of Treasury to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels  of the IRS for audits, collections, and appeals. EAs must pass a challenging exam on tax law. EAs are skilled tax preparers for individuals, businesses and estates.
